Yesterday I had my 28 week check up. James wanted to come with me and since Mason wasn't napping, we thought it could be a family affair (we probably should have held out for the nap since he was so high strung once we got there. Oops). As soon as we took our seats in the waiting room, Mason focused his attentions on a little girl about his age sitting and whining to her mother in the corner. She too had missed her nap. After pretending to be bashful (he lowers his head slightly and gazes out from under his lashes while smiling at his prey) didn't interest her, he decided to get a closer look and went up to his soon-to-be-friend. The little girls mom told us that her daughter has always been very very shy, especially when she is tired. The obvious rejection did not seem to bother our friendly little chap. Neither did the fact that his hair was pointing every which way from his nap attempt. He joined into her story time, pointed out her shoes and other cool things, and then miraculously got her to join him under her mother's chair where they giggled and played with the air vent.....until he smushed her head when they both tried to get out. Whoops.
I remember when Mason was given his baby blessing from James, he was told that he would have a sense of humor and would be able to bring joy to others around him. At the time he was a little blob newborn but as the months have gone by, his little sunny personality is emerging and it is so fun to see. We might have another yellow in the family. It is a testimony to me that our spirits and personalities existed before we were born. Each of us are unique and special children of our Heavenly Father who have been sent here to this earth to learn and grow and help others with our individual strengths and weaknesses. What a wonderful, wonderful thing. I'm sure glad that we were sent our little ham. We sure love him.
