Mason and Charlie's first bath together. Ignore the nasty caulk on the wall behind them. That is one project we have yet to get around to.
The other night Mason and Charlie hit a big milestone of sibling hood. They shared their first bath! Mason had been asking to have "Char" take a bath with him for the last month, but it wasn't until Poppy was home the other night that I agreed. To make it all the more fun, I had Poppy join them in the tub to hold little Charlie. All three had a ball....for about a minute and a half. After that, Charlie decided to squawk and I opted to end his time in the bath. However, Mason and Poppy refused to let one little poor sport get them down and continued to enjoy the warm water....or at least until Poppy spotted a brown and unfriendly lump come out of nowhere.
James let out a shriek and then yelled, "Oh no!!!! Mason pooped in the water!!!!!". As discus ting as that was, I could hear him laughing in the other room. Then I heard him say to Mason, "Watch out! Don't let the mean poops get you!" Instead of the laughter he expected from his poop-loving son, Mason started screaming bloody murder and scrambled away from the "mean poops" as fast as his cute little legs would carry him.
For the next 20 minutes, while Poppy drained the tub and cleaned things up (and waited for the hot water heater to recharge) Mason told me about his scary bathtub experience. In his limited toddler talk he told me of the terrifying mean poop and how it tried to get him and his beloved Lego man. Even after he was re-showered and dressed, Mason could not stop dramatically telling me the story. Interestingly enough, as the night wore on, I noticed that one slight but very important change was made to his woeful tale. "Poppy pooped mean poop!" Mason seemed to think that he was the innocent party in this bath time debacle and has been telling everyone this ever since. Now with James' luck, this will most likely be his first childhood memory that sticks. Years down the road, he'll be telling his friends, "One time my dad pooped in the tub while I was in it...."!

Jared and I are still laughing our heads off over this one! Silly little Mason!
I don't know if I'll ever stop laughing...
I can hear this story over and over and still laugh my head off. Mason is hilarious. And I can't believe what a great sport James was about the whole thing! I would've started crying... :)
