Our beloved Poppy and his little brood on Father's day.
Father's day was a hoot this year! Mason is getting more and more into holidays and gift-giving now and so he was able to catch the spirit of this year's celebration of our Pops. All week long he clucked and smiled about the big day. The day before, the boys and I zipped around town in preparation and ended up hitting two places that were offering free Father's day workshops for little kids. The boys were so proud of the little things they built and colored for their number one man. Mason knows now that gifts are meant to be kept secret and felt so sly whenever James goaded him on with questions about what he was going to be getting.
Poppy with his gifts. The boys built him candy/tool boxes at Home Depot but made sure that it was given with the stipulation that sharing the loot with them was a must. "Yeah but, if you get candy, will you share it?" Mason is so sneaky.
James is obviously pleased with the bobble-headed kitty that Char made for him at Joanns....even if the neck got stretched out.
I felt like the luckiest of all because not only did we get to celebrate James, but my parents were visiting for the weekend so we were able to celebrate my dad as well. I couldn't ask for a more loving and devoted dad and it was sweet to be able to spend the day with him.
My Dad, showing off the shirt I made for him. When he would stay in the hospital with me when I was little, we would watch Taxi together on Nick at Night. Even though that was such a painful time, my memories of it are happy.
The boys were certain to show their appreciation to Grandpa Flips by combing his hair. So relaxing.
In primary, Mason made this little note for James:
Apparently Mason thinks James has brown eyes, is twelve years old, and hates to change the lights.
Our boys certainly keep us laughing, but I know that is largely thanks to their funny poppy, James. I sure picked a wonderful father for my boys and I know we will all be eternally grateful.

12-years-old, huh? you always did like 'em young.
happy fathers day guys!
I love that you watched Taxi on Nick at Nite, Me too!!
I can remember thinking I was sneaky about getting people to share candy with me as a kid. I'm glad to see that Mason is a man after my own heart!
How come there are no pictures of YOUR Joann's creation?
I love their funny answers from primary. Recently Miss A came home with something just like this but about me. So funny! I love kids gifts.
