McCabe and his Pom
This last week, McCabriel Bottoms turned 11 months old! Time has scooted on by so quickly that we are still feeling a bit shocked and dismayed that the youngest of our three boys only has a month left of official babyhood. This little boy has been a gift to our family and we can't imagine life without him around these parts. He continues to be the most popular among the brothers and as goon-beanie as ever. We adore him.
McCabe at 11 months:
- He has been teething for the last little bit but since he is easy as pie, the only way we know it, is because he is chewing on everything in sight. He also sucks his little lips inward and gums on them. Very funny looking. Especially if you get him to smile while he is doing it because then he turns it into a long, closed-mouth grin.
- He only has one tooth to his name. A second tooth is on the horizon but hasn't grown in past his gumline yet. This makes him the slowest-teething child in our pack.
- He loves sharing a room with his brothers. Even if this means that his sleep gets interpreted by big brothers joining him in his crib.
- I guess I should say pack-n-play since he has never graduated into a real crib. The one that we had for him was recalled and since we have been meaning to move Charlie into a big-boy bed for the last little while, we never got him a replacement. Woops.
- McCabe wakes up happily and does a jig-a-boo dance so wildly in his bed that you can hear it from any place in the house. When we hear it, Charlie cheers, "AWAKE!!!!" and then we all race into retrieve him.
- He is a lousy eater. Probably because I am lousy at transitioning babies to real food.
- He still sucks on his binky when it is time to sleep. His other brothers were done with theirs by six months.
- He has already had his first haircut. His wisps were getting a little too Cache Valley for out liking.
- He is a bit of a boob and won't shake off getting bumped or scared until you snuggle him accordingly.
- He cries when it's chaotic (By "chaotic", I mean when Charlie has been tantruming for too long and we parents are about to lose it).
- He is a favorite among the Primary children at church. Every Sunday, the kids in the ward fight over who gets to hold him next.
- His "good ears" are becoming more and more prominent.
- He crawls around the house amazingly fast. However, this last week we rediscovered his little walking toy and he has been motoring around with it.
- He loves a good splash in the toilet.
- He LOVES baths!
- He has his poppy's hairline and my flat bootom. James calls it his "pair of flat jacks."
- He thinks that there is nothing more funny than shaking your head at him and shakes his head all day long with a big grin on his face.
- Besides his family, his favorite thing in the world is a little hat with pom poms on it that his godmother gave him before he was born. We call it his "Pom." He doesn't like it on his head, but rather, he clutches it in his little fist and drags it around with him wherever he goes. He obviously can't wait to meet his godmother in person!
