Mason rides a bike!

Today was an especially happy Memorial day in the Sieg home. While we were playing out front, our neighbor, Matthias (age seven), brought over the bike he just grew out of to see if Mason would want it. Mason adores Matthias and so it is safe to say that ANYTHING that Matthias would give Mason would be a big hit. However, this shiny blue bike was especially grand! Minutes after he gave it to us, Mason hopped on and away he went! Hot dog!

Mason was beyond pleased with himself:
Once we knew that Mason was serious about learning to ride, we headed off to our church parking lot for more biking fun. After some quick advice on the matter...
 Mason was off!

While Mason worked hard on his wheels, our other boys kept themselves busy on their own sweet ride!
We love little Char's feet while he rides this thing

 Look at that face!

At one point I turned to look at Char and McCabe in their car, only to see McCabe speedily heading downhill toward a curb.  Too far away to intervene, I could only watch as he hit the curb and nearly flipped the car! He was very stoic about it all and just continued on playing with is big brother. Although, come to think of it, he wasn't too into riding very fast for the rest of the outing (as seen in the picture above where he was scrambling to get out mid zoom).

Even James had fun with their fancy blue automobile:

Learning to ride wasn't always easy and sometimes quite painful, but all in all, it was a major success! Way to go, Mason!!!!

In other bike news, I went for a bike ride today after eight years of resisting! What a treat and a half! James loaded all three of our boys in our bike carrier-thingy and we headed for a nice ride around the back-roads of town! I'm in love all over again! I'm timid as all get-out (since I am so afraid of breaking) but I love it all the same! Good thing my boys don't care if I embarrass them yet. Or James either, for that matter.
