Charlie, helping his Pops clean a little wound.
The other day Char and I were talking about one thing or another that was proving to be a bit tricky. I said, "Oh, that will be hard to do, should we just quit now?!" to which, he smiled and said, "No! Siegs do hard things!" Lately our courageous little man has been reminding us of this truth more and more frequently.
Siegs Do Hard Things is our family motto. We bring it up in conversation on a regular basis and even cheer it in a family huddle at the end of the day. (Our boys LOVE putting their hands together as they shout it happily! Even Cabey jumps in and cheers excitedly, albeit unintelligibly. I can't take all the credit for the huddle since I got the idea from my friends-and two of the best parents I know-Leah and Ben). One of these days I'll figure out how to make something actually look good enough in photoshop so that I can make a print of our motto and hang it on our wall. This might all seem a little over the top, but life is hard and can deflate even the bravest of souls. We figure that if our little men learn now to stand up to the blows they will receive, they will be all the happier as they soldier along.

Coolest family ever! I want a family motto too!
I love it! What a great motto!!! Our family motto is "Don't Do Dumb Stuff." (Kind of our version of "Oh be wise...") We've got it on the wall and on our family flag. I like the idea of having a huddle and cheer...we'll have to work on that! :)
That's so adorable! I just had this conversation with my visiting teachers - they both have a similar family motto, and I LOVE that idea! Your boys have always seemed so strong and resilient, this is perfect for you guys. But how in the world is little Charlie having real conversations like that with you?? Don't tell me he's growing up quickly!
