Halloween Festivities

Thanks Pinterest for this fun idea!

Halloween has come and gone yet again but not without some major partying on our part! We dragged out the fun throughout the month to make sure that we got our fill of this kid-friendly holiday.

We played some pumpkin bowling for Family Home Evening:
The boys LOVED it! Cabey kicked it like a soccer ball but still was smitten with it!

James was by far the best at the sport. But the boys didn't care. Stacking the ghost/pins/toilet paper was almost just as fun as knocking them down!

And after we got tired of bowling, the game morphed into a ghost fight. Before we knew it, little toilet paper ghosties were flying every which way:

 We made pumpkin-shaped pizza:
None of them actually turned out looking like a Jack-o-lantern but they still tasted great!

We carved pumpkins:
Char wore the the same striped sweater carving pumpkins last year that Coobie wore this year. How are these babies of ours growing up so fast?!

And, of course, we trick-or-treated:
Cabey really got into it this year and might have been the best candy collector out of the three. He trotted along with his brothers tirelessly, clutching his precious candy collection. Coobie has a serious sweet-tooth so it wasn't really a surprise. The other boys did well....for the first side of one street. After that Mason kept sitting down on the doorsteps while waiting for the doors to open (????) and Char decided he was too thirsty to enjoy the adventure. James and I were both surprised and mildly concerned that we have failed to instill the importance of collecting a years worth of candy in one night. How did that happen?! But in the end we had a great time and it was nice not having to worry about large amounts of candy consumption. (Go quitters!)
We hadn't seen James all week (due to it being a very hard test week) so having him with us made the night even better. Everything is better with Poppy around.

Mason found this little metal pin/screw thing on the sidewalk that he found much cooler than all of the candy that he was collecting. In fact, yesterday, when we went to The Home Depot, he surprised me by whipping it out and asking the person working there what kind of tool it was. Mason is a hoot.

 Armadillo down!

The night was a success! And how could it not have been when we ended it watching our favorite Halloween show, Legends of Sleepy Hollow! Good-bye, Halloween! See you next year!

How fun! I've been waiting for you to post this so I could feel like we enjoyed some of the celebrations with you guys. :) Mason's tool is hilarious. I can't believe they didn't want to race from house to house until 10pm like we would. Don't worry, you've got some more years to train them. :)

I was chuckling at your quitter trick or treaters, when Marshall came and looked over my shoulder. He said that your costumes are some of the best he's seen! And I agree. Especially love the armadillo.
