Coobie's birthday

For some reason or another, I am having a very hard time mustering up the effort to catch up on blog posts. I have so many blog posts that I want to have on here, but at the end of the day I would rather work on a project or veg on the couch with my honeybun. But since I know I'll regret not updating this baby, here we go. I'll start with McCabe's second birthday celebration:

As lame as it is, since my sister was flying in that night, and since McCabey didn't know what he was missing, we decided to hold off on the real partying until the next day so that Valerie could enjoy it with us. (It was our attempt to pack in as much fun to her two week trip to Kansas as possible.) So on the morning of the 17th, instead of eating donuts and opening presents, McCabe had to get a hair cut and take a shower.
He wasn't that big of a fan of either.

As a peace offering, we let him watch a show about construction trucks. And let him feast on our favorite European treat that Grandma and Grandpa Flips sent our way! We knew that the candy would do the trick, since he has a sweet tooth to rival his beloved godmother, Lindsay Laurel!
These are two-inch-long gummy smurfs (or Schluempfe) made by Haribo that my parents picked up in Germany. Our Vance family favorite!

After we stuffed our faces with Schluempfes, we headed off towards Kansas City to pick of Valy. We decided to stop in Topeka on our way to enjoy their zoo and amazing adjoining park.
McCabe liked the park, but after a certain large lion gave him a loud happy birthday growl, he spent the rest of the time in Poppy's arms. Yikes!

The following day, we played around in the morning and then had hot dogs and soda pop for lunch.
McCabe felt very mature with his donut mustache so we let him wear it for most of the day.

After lunch, we figured Cabey had waited long enough, so we pulled out his presents and sang happy birthday to our little man!McCabe was so excited that he hand to join in on his own serenade!
And since he was enjoying himself so much, we decided to sing the song twice so that he and his brothers could dance around in circles with glee!

 Then it was present time!!!!!
Cabey got a kick out of all of his presents, but by far the biggest hit was the cool tractor that Grandma and Grandpa Sieg sent. This little tractor has already traveled all over the place with us since he can't stand to be parted with his beloved new toy!
I shouldn't have added this picture, but since he spends a 4th of his day picking his nose, I figured it would be a true documentation of our little Cabey at this age.

Cabey's big brothers were nice enough to play with the tractor while Cabey opened up the rest of his loot.

Since we have all grown so fond of Skunks around here, I made him a little stuffed skunk to snuggle with. He earns brownie points everytime I see him tote it around the house with him.

As interesting as the presents were, Ratty felt a little left out until Char gave him a little sugar.

That night, after a hike, we had ice cream cake and sang to our favorite two-year-old yet again:

Poppy made the same cake as last year and it was a hit and a half!

Then just when we thought we couldn't party anymore, we pulled out the tractor pinata to make his birthday complete!

Since I was too lazy to include a wire hook, Cabey and the boys were left to crack the pinata in different ways. First up, Cabey tried to run it down:
When that didn't work, the boys tried other tactics (including karate chopping) until it finally bit the dust!
Thankfully, all that work paid off once the oodles of Ring Pops (Cabey's favorite treat) were revealed!
 We love Coobie!!!!!
McCabe, about to get a birthday diaper change. I can't WAIT for this boy to get potty trained. He HATES getting his diaper changed and makes it known by kicking and screaming even worse than either of his older brothers ever did. Unfortunately  he seems to be afraid of sitting on the toilet at the moment.
