Our Easter Fun!

We Siegs had a wonderful Easter. After church Bryce and the Bethards came over and our Easter celebrations began! We had a yummy meal, dyed eggs and then....

Peter Cottontail paid us a visit!

This is how Mason felt about it....

After his initial glee, all seriousness took over while he went about his task of collecting eggs. Luckily for him, Sydney was kind enough to let him collect all dozen eggs himself.

He was having so much fun (even though you couldn't tell by his blank expression) that we took a couple eggs and tossed them back out onto the grass so that he could find them again.

Mason and I have been gearing up for Easter all month long by singing, "Here comes Peter Cottontail" and dancing around the paper mache bunny I made. I suppose I am grooming him to be as dorky as I am.... at least we are happy dorks, right?

Mason was not aware at this point that there actually were no candy in these hard boiled eggs. I am sure he wouldn't be as tickled pink if he did.

My Easter could not have gone any better. Good food, good company AND my sister took all the pictures of the evening! She is amazing with that camera of hers. How convenient that I lost my camera this weekend.... Check out her blog and see the most recent photo shoot she took of Mason. She is gifted at what she does.

Vote for Me!!!!

I checked my e-mail this morning and found the most pleasant surprise! The above little leprechaun was selected by Etsy for a St. Patrick's Day poll! Hot dog!!!! How did they know they know that this is a special day for me! If I am one of the top voted items, then I get free advertising on one of the main pages of Etsy. Mostly it is just fun. If you don't mind taking a second, go here and vote for the little guy. There are some really cute items, so if you vote for them, I wouldn't blame you (I would just be sad). The voting goes for a couple more days, so the sooner the better. Thank you!!!

Come Help Nie...

For those of you who don't know, there is a wonderful woman in this world named, Nie (Short for Stephanie Nielson). I have never met her in person, but I find her blog very refreshing and inspiring and I sense that we are kindred spirits. Sadly, this Summer, she and her beloved husband got into a very serious plane accident and have suffered from major burns. They are both currently recovering, but are still in need of love, prayers, and help with the bills. For this reason, a benefit concert is being held for her next month, here in Provo Utah. If any of you can, please come! I would love to see some long lost friends!

Also, I am donating one of my figurines for the silent auction that they will be holding for the event. Wish me luck. I sure would feel like a fool if I pull in zippo for the cause.

Speaking of wishing luck, we got a letter today from Washington State University! They have invited Jamesy in for a Vet School interview! To top it off, it will be on our nephew, Logan's, birthday! That has to be a good sign, right? At any rate, prayers would be most appreciated. Especially on February 11th at 3:15ish. Thank you!!!!

I Actually SOLD Something!!!!!

I have happy news to report!!! Before I went to bed last night, I checked my e-mail to make sure that my popularity (or lack thereof) was in order. As I logged onto my account, what did I see? A SOLD transation from my Etsy account!!!!!! Woohoo!!! This means that I am officially an etsy gal. Hot dog!!! Needless to say, I am pleased as punch! My new years reselution is to get this little business going, so seeing that I have someone in Georgia liking my work, really REALLY was a boost. To top it off, she must be fellow St. Patricks Day fan! A kindred spirit, no doubt.

Paper Mache Info

As most of you know, I have been a fan of sculpting with paper mache for a while now. Since I am starting to clutter up my house with my own creations, I thought I would try my hand at selling some on Etsy. My shop is not at all finished, but check it out anyway! I would love some feedback on the stuff I have or ideas to make things better. Also, if you have any friends who are interested in this type of stuff, send them my way!

Also, since I spend most of my free time making things, I thought I would make a seperate blog for my crafts, since not everyone is interested in my paper mache world. I figure this way I can share the things I love with you guys!

Paper Mache

I guess I need to explain myself to those who do not already know about my obsession with sculpting with paper mache. Since I don't have a way to fire clay up here in Utah, I started playing around with paper mache about a year and a half ago. I sure get a kick out of it! I am trying to get good enough so that I can start selling them. I was accepted at the quilted bear (a local boutique mall) and a online craft store, but I am still slowly figuring things out. Any advice would be very appreciated.
This is a picture of a little skipping (yes there is another leg, i promise.)girl with a four leaf clover. Can't start St. Patricks day too early!
This is a little valentines figurine.
Here is Santa. He is more of a doll, really. He has real plastic/glass eyes and clothes.
These are the carolers that got me hooked in the first place. They were my experiments two christmas' ago.

President Hinckley's Passing

Since we are cut off from the world when at home on Stubbs Ave, we did not know about our Prophet, Pesident Hinckley's death until the next day...the same day we had to put our two dogs down.(It was a low blow.)However, about a week before, I started working on a little Valentines Day figurine of an elderly couple in love. Since the Hinckley's are the dearest little couple I knew of, I decided to model it after them. While working on it, I reflected on how long it had been since Sister Hinckley's death and how hard that must be for our dear Prophet. When I did hear about his death, I felt a personal loss, but I felt SO happy for the two of them! I thought that was a neat way for me to say good-bye to that wonderful man. Even though the figurine didn't turn out exactly, it is a fun little reminder of our dear prophet and of the wonderful example of love in marriage that they set.
