St. Patrick's Day

A trail of leprechaun dust leading to where it left out the back door.

This St. Patrick's (or Pat-twitch as Mason calls it) was a good one. The boys were sure to set an ingenious leprechaun trap before going to bed the night before so that they could get three wishes from our little friend. Last year we tried a shoe box that didn't work so this year Mason hatched a brilliant plan to lure them into a clothes hamper by putting a decorative leprechaun on top. He was quite sure that the fake leprechaun would make the real leprechaun think that his friend liked sitting there so he would like it, too and foolishly stick around for the night. Apparently leprechauns are like lemmings. Surprisingly, his plan didn't snare our leprechaun but luckily he left Lucky Charms and chocolate/gold coins for his worthy opponents all the same.

Excited to see a real leprechaun

Mason was flummoxed at how the leprechaun got away with a trap as flawless as his!

Pouring the green milk that the leprechaun also dyed in the night and sporting some fancy bed-head.

 Yummy

Even though we didn't successfully catch a leprechaun, we had a ball all the same.

Mason's Blarney Stone

We Siegs celebrated this beloved holiday a little differently this year. No green elephant gift exchange (very sad), no Darby O'Gill and the Little People, and no box of lucky charms. How in the world did I scrooge it up in such a fashion?!

This doesn't mean we weren't festive though. We had our corned beef and cabbage and wore green. However, the highlight of the day was when we played out front with Mason. James and I had no plan of anything festive occurring during this outdoor adventure, but our wee little leprechaun had another idea. He was in search of his Blarney stone!

He did not have the luck of the Irish on his side with the first attempt. Instead of a rock he found an old piece of dog poop (at least we used green soap to wash his hands so the moment still held a little St. Patrick's day charm). After he got washed off, the merriment continued and he was back on the hunt. This time he found his real Blarney stone and all was well. Look how proud my little chap is. Heavenly Father sure sent us a kindred spirit.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Umm....if you can't read that, it says, "Top of the mornin' to you!" Like any good St. Patrick's day loving girl would say. I couldn't resist writing in green on this festive day.

Happy Belated St. Patricks Day!!!

Another blessed St. Patricks day has come and gone. I have know idea why I latched onto this day, but I sure am a fan. Normally we have a green gift white elephant gift exchange, and we almost did this year. However, last minute, we realized that James wasn't going to get home until super late from a lame test. So we played hard to get and cancled on everyone. Classy. Instead we decided to keep it mellow with family and had Aria and Tommy over. My sister and her husband just moved back to the states from Australia and so it was SO nice to just visit with them.
Now this is my idea of going green!
What a goofy little chap we have! Mason and I got to meet James for lunch on campus. We don't get to see him all that much, so we jump at any chance we get.
Aunt Aria!
Uncle Tommy!
