James got an elk tag this year and was so excited to figure out the ways of the mountain man. However, his hopes were plunging after countless scouting sessions lead to no sightings at all. He never even saw any prints or droppings....until today. We decided to go out as a family for a hike/hunt this afternoon and started out with a prayer that we could at least see something and stay safe. It was so BEAUTIFUL up in the mountains and Mason was a trooper. After hiking for nearly an hour, we came across a clearing and James spotted a heard of elk on a nearby hill! It was amazing! Mason and I stayed behind while he hunted his prey and kept warm. He didn't get anything this time, but now our hope has returned. Prayers are answered.
James, returning from his hunt.
My manly man. You know, I decided that I wanted to marry a man who was interested in hunting and fishing after I got back from my mission. However, I sort of gave up on that dream when I moved back to Southern California. Then I met James and thought I hit the jackpot when I found that he liked fishing in the ocean. Now, three years later, he wants to be a large animal vet and likes hunting. I never saw it coming.
My mountain man.
Peek-a-boo!
