Our new friend

James' homecoming from work is always an exciting one, but yesterday we greeted him with a blustery Summer storm! As if that wasn't happy enough, James one-uped us by pulling a newborn orphaned nanny goat out of his car! Boy oh boy was she a hit! Apparently, she was born earlier that day but her mother could not be found and she was starving to death. Because our little goat friend would surely die otherwise, James was given permission to bring her home and bottle feed her until she could make it on her own.

Isn't she darling?!!! After we got acquainted, we named her Charlotte.
As we hadn't yet had a chance to run to the local farming store, Charlie was kind enough to donate a bottle to our little friend's cause. He was happy to share....for the first little while at least. Then he decided that the bottle simply looked too tasty and felt it was his turn for a sip. He let out a jealous wail and tried to steal it out of Charlotte's mouth with his own.

We hope Charlotte will put on weight soon and have a chance at a happy life. Until then, she gets to sleep in a dog kennel in our garage and make Mason feel like the luckiest boy in the world!

*****As you can see, we are no longer private. We gave it a shot but it didn't work for us.*****

Oh my goodness!! When can I come meet your new family member?? I can't wait to take some pictures of that adorable baby goat face! I love the picture of Mason and Charlie feeding her. Your boys sure have some fun memories under their belts in their short lives. Sydney and I enjoy living vicariously by reading your blog and looking through the photos. :)

And I'm very happy you're not private anymore, too. :) Your blog posts are so funny and sweet...they can brighten so many people's day.
