Recently I found Mason watching out the front window while James finished mowing our front yard. Mason pointed out the window and informed me that Poppy was working hard. Out of nowhere, Mason started bouncing on the couch like a maniac and joyfully proclaimed,
"I WUV him!!!!"
Then he stopped still, looked at me with a serious face and whispered, "I call him James."
Of course, neither of these statements were news to me. Poppy makes our world go round. Also, Mason has been slyly calling his Pops, "James" every now and then for the last while with a smug little voice. It is as if he thinks he cracked some secret code and now belongs in the cool club because he knows his poppy's real name. What a stud.
But even without saying, I knew he was pretty fond of his Pops. If for no other reason, it is clear to me every time he picks out his favorite pair of undies and proudly struts them around the house.
Mason's new favorite Thomas the Tank Engine character is James...the crankiest engine of all. That show is so beastly, in my opinion. Why can't Mason like The Thunder Cats or other shows of quality?
Yes, friends. Mason is a sentimental chap. But instead of wearing his heart on his sleeve, he prefers wearing it on his hind end.

I loved this story! It brought a tear to my eye! :) Your kids are so wonderful. I will have to tell my brother this story because his 2 year old boy just decided that he would call him "Matthew" instead of "dadda." I guess it's normal.
