Roasting the biggest marshmallows we have ever seen. One was a enough for me for the entire trip.
On Friday, James was lucky enough to get off of work by just a little after noon. To celebrate, we decided to go camping and in no time, we were on the road to our favorite family-friendly campground, Strawberry Reservoir. We have been camping there every Summer since we wed, but this was the first camping trip with little Char in toe. As you can see, he was pleased as punch (have a heart and ignore my sideburns in the picture below. Yikes)!

We caught crawdads:
Mason with one of his beloved crawdads. This picture was taken before he got nailed by one of those suckers. Just before he got pinched, he had named his crawdad after his beloved cousin Ben. For the rest of the trip, we heard about how "Cousin Ben pinched me!"
We kayaked:
We enjoyed the freedoms of the great outdoors:
Our happy little goon-bean
While Char coached from the kennel, Mason and Pops caught our dinner!
I love Mason's face in this shot. He is such a joy.
Hot dog!!!!
We left our campsite Sunday morning with Mason in tears because he did not want the camping adventure to end. As lame as a tantrum is, I guess it was proof that it was a success of a trip. Hopefully it won't be too soon till we our out in the wild, smelling like campfire again.

I love how Charlie is proudly perched on the bow of my gut like a figurehead on a noble sailing vessel. I shall rethink the Baby Bjorn in public. Yarrggghh!
Looks like a fun trip! I LOVE that picture of Charlie in the dog crate- that is awesome :)
hilarious! i love the dog crate pic too! too funny!
I love looking at your family pics and seeing all of the outdoorsy fun you manage to have with little ones. Ah, it makes me want to move somewhere with a little more natural beauty than "Toxic City". Not being able to see the stars at night because of the bright lights and pollution from the chemical plants is a major downer. I hope that we can move back to the mountains for Seth's residency in a couple of years...that would be awesome!!! It just seems like a better place to raise a family.
Hahahahahaha! That first anonymous comment is hilarious. :) And I love the photos of Mason peeing in the wild and Charlie partying in the dog crate. You guys are such fun and adventurous parents. Your boys are so lucky to have such fun memories!
