Our prophet child

Mason, playing in the rain a couple weeks ago when he still had hair.
Last Saturday we took Mason for a haircut and ended up accidentally getting him shorn like a sheep! I told the girl,"His hair grows amazingly fast, so keep the little boy cut, but just trim it a lot shorter." She said it was no problem, so I relaxed in my chair with a magazine. Next thing I knew, she had shaved up the sides and cut the top so short that she couldn't even style it when she tried. The damage had been done. His hair now was like nearly every other little boy his age....just shorter....and sorta ugly. No more flop. My little boy was gone and my heart was broken. It took everything in me to not kneel down and collect all of his long locks off the floor and cry. Instead, I paid her a good tip and left. His hair will grow back eventually. For now he will continue to make Charlie look like a woolly mammoth and I will continue to wonder who the little boy playing at my feet is.

Mason likes his cut fine. Mostly because they gave him a balloon and a lollipop. However, Mason recently informed me that, "Sometimes prophets are bald." After his haircut this weekend, he excitedly told me, "I look like a prophet now!" Way to be an optimist.

I would show a picture, but our camera is being sent in to get serviced.

i totally feel your pain! our RS pres volunteered to watch tama one night, (she's a hairstylist by profession and has cut his hair once before), and when we came back she had cut his hair way shorter! i was so sad as it was exactly how we liked it before. it's STILL growing out... so sad.

Probably not the best post to read right before I take Elijah in for his first haircut...

Oh I do that too. Smile & tip them when deep down I am cursing them for chopping off my babies' hair. Why can't I just say, "No, I will not pay for this atrocity!" Ok, a bit dramatic, but still. The urge is still there.
