Cheetah and Antelope

Mason was nice enough to model various bow ties that I made recently so that I could put them on Etsy. These were my favorite shots because of how true they are to our little man.

Today Mason roped me into playing Cheetah and Antelope (one of his favorite games) while we worked around the house. This game entails one person acting as the cheetah (always Mason) to stalk and attack while the person playing the antelope (always me) does their (seemingly) best to get away. Generally we play this game at the park up the street, but since I was on a roll in the cleaning department, playing it at home had to do. At one point, while I was changing my antelope baby's (McCabe) diaper, the cheetah decided to prowl closer. After an already failed attempt of stalking, and while he intensely stared at his prey, I pointed out to my cheetah friend that his hand was right on top of an open and very soggy diaper. When he looked down at his gross blunder, the two of us started laughing so hard that we both fell to the ground and Mason shed some tears! It was so funny!

And in that moment, I felt absolutely full to the brim with happiness! Here I was laughing with my son on the ground. I'm sure it wasn't the first time, but it struck me how amazing it was that we were both laughing at the same thing. I wasn't laughing at how cute he was while he was laughing at something he thought was funny. He wasn't laughing along at something I got a kick out of but he didn't quite understand. We both thought his blunder was hilarious!

Like so many moms, I dread my babies growing up. I hated the thought of Mason turning four but now here I am loving it completely. I'm still in no rush to get to the next stage, but I have to say, having older kids around might not be that bad after all.

That is so sweet and funny! I can totally picture Mason prowling like a cheetah, unknowingly landing on a soggy diaper. And he's always had such a sense of humor, just like his parents. You guys always brighten our day when you're around!

I've been loving special time with Sydney when I feel like I'm chatting with a buddy, not my baby - it's so great to have these children that can also be our favorite buds.

And I am blown away with the adorable bowties, and also the photographs! They look so professional! You should frame a collage of those last ones together - great job!
