Having little children in the home sure makes Christmas a treat! Especially when little children in the house surprise us by sleeping in till 8am! Merry Christmas to everyone! Hot dog! First off, we opened stockings by our warm fire.
Mason and Cabey, discovering their goodies
L: Clearly Santa enjoyed his snack-a-roo. R: Cabey was thrilled with his nutritious treat!
Once we finished with the stockings, we started in on the presents:
L: Our boys love snuggling with soft things so much that I couldn't resist making a little stuffed cowboy for Char. R: Cabey looks pretty pleased about getting another present.
Half way through the presents, we got a to talk with my youngest brother, Alex, who is serving as a missionary in Panama City! All of us siblings got to skype with him for a good chunk of time and we were all pleased as punch! It was cool to be together, in a way, on Christmas morning like we used to be when we all lived under the same roof. Talking together with Alex was my sweet of the day! Surprisingly enough, my boys and all of their cousins were all patient as they waited for us to get off the computer so they could open more presents!
At this point of this blog post, I have to apologize to Mason and Cabey since nearly every picture I took of the morning was of their brother, Char. This year we kinda had a cowboy theme going on for this boy and he was just too cute not to take a billion pictures of! That and Santa brought him a little baby rat and made his Christmas dreams come true.
When Mason got his rat in October, we told Char that maybe he could get one if he tried harder to be cheerful (James and I were at our wits end). Amazingly, Char took on the challenge and became a totally different child almost overnight! When we asked him what he wanted from Santa, all he ever asked for was a rat. Thankfully, Santa found the sweetest little rat to reward our little three-year-old.
Char LOVES his little rat and named him, Blackie, since he has a cute little black head. I for one, think that Blackie is a great name, since I spent most of my childhood pining away for a black cat to name the very same thing.
After we opened all of the presents and ate our breakfast casserole, we lounged around the house, played with our toys, and watched The Christmas Story.
"Notafinga!"
Char and Blackie, getting to know each other
Cabie was in toy heaven!
One of the most endearing (and frustrating) things about Char is how seriously he takes himself. I would pay good money to see what goes on in his head while he swings his rope.
How did Grandma Sieg know that Char would like a Cowboy Lincoln Log set?!
After Valerie was kind enough to let James and I go for a run without the boys, we had the missionaries over for Christmas dinner and then ended our holiday with them calling home to their different families.
Another super flattering shot of our family. Notice that he boys never changed out of their pajamas. That's how you know it was a good day.

Can I just tell you.....I LOVE reading your blog. I especially think your boys are super cute in their green christmas jammies and with that cowboy hat!!! You guys did a good job. And I like seeing all the pictures of real life fun and goodness and messiness. Still no boyfriend for me, let alone kids, but I like seeing how much happiness can be in a family. Thanks for posting.
