Well, it's official! James is now a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army! We never saw this in our future, but hot dog all the same! The army offers a scholarship that pays for three years of vet school as well as living expenses to vet students and James was one of 20 vet students nationwide who received it. We are very proud of James and very grateful to Heavenly Father for helping it happen! This means that we can graduate almost debt free. The flip-side is that James will have to work as a captain in the army for three years after he graduates, which is good because he already has a job out of vet school, but is a little scary for me because there is a chance that he will have to be deployed. Boo. But for now, we might as well celebrate, right!
Yesterday was the ceremony where James vowed to protect this great nation from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. As if he wasn't already as manly as they come already!
I got to pin him with some army pin. Every now and then it hits me that I am actually a great deal shorter than my honeybun....
Our whole family showed up to cheer him on.
The two soldiers on the ends are the recruiters who helped James complete his huge and complicated application.
As an added bonus for James's life, they also bought him a cake and gave him a slew of army nick-nacks that the boys have already claimed as their own.

Congrats!!! I'm feeling a little patriotic just reading your post :) I'm excited for you guys! xoxo
Oh wow, this is so cool! I've had many friends do the army/navy for med school, etc and love it. Btw you look gorgeous in the family pic! You are such an adorable family.
And big news, I wanted to call you instantly on the phone when I found out but alas I don't have your number! We must remedy that. But I did an early ultrasound yesterday and its a boy!!!!!!!!! I'm going to have 3 boys!!! And im going to need so much advice from you! We always thought we would three boys in a row so I wasn't shocked at all. Just a bit overwhelmed thinking of how my already chaotic house covered in boy paraphernalia is going to get even worse hah. I love reading your blog because I get a glimpse into my future life now. It's not perfect but oh so fun. I can't imagine not having boys...
So Brian is in Alaska hunting for bears and I told him over the phone he was getting another boy. He was ecstatic and said, another camper hunter farm hand! Yep, it's a good thing we will have three farm hands to work the land now!
How wonderful! Congratulations!
My brother is a Marine. It is hard, but good too. I must say, I barely recognized Mason he is looking so grown up!
Wow congrats James! No better person to be serving our country :) So happy for your family!
