Primary Program

Our men, right before church in September. They went through a phase when they each wanted to bring a stuffed animal with them to church for the first hour. Coobie was the trend setter and insisted that not only did his lion come with us, but that we wore a bow tie to boot! We were fine with it since it kept the boys quite...and really cool.

Yesterday was the children's primary program at church where they got to teach and entertain us at church for the first hour. What a hoot! Coobie was not quite old enough this year but the other two did not disappoint! At one point we heard Mason belting out the wrong lyrics for half a song and Char kept us snickering while he refused to sing and just stood at the front looking bored out of his gourd!  We had not doubt that Mason would say his part, ("When I play with my brothers, we like to explore") but we were very uncertain about Char. Last time that he was asked to speak I ended up saying his whole talk and before that, James ended up giving a prayer in primary when Charlie was assigned the job. However, after much coaching leading up to the big day, Charlie came through! Of course, that may be due to the fact that right as he was walking up the stand James stopped him and desperately bribed. "If you say your line into the microphone we'll take you on a children's date and get you a lot of candy! AND your baby rat can even come!" Bribery at it's finest! Minutes later Char bravely walked up to the podium and stoically said, "Heavenly Father answers my prayers by helping me find my rat." We were bursting with pride! After all, it isn't every day rats are mentioned over the pulpit

In case you are curious, here is the itinerary of Charlie's dream date that he has graciously invited us all on:
Go swimming at the pool at school and then go and get ice cream. After that, pick up the rat and go on a hike up to the Manhattan sign ("since my rat has never seen it before!"). When we get home, watch a show and have hot chocolate and lots of candy. With a plan like this, I have no doubt that we will all be hoping he takes us out again!
