Last night we set out to fish for trout. We ended up not catching anything because we were too busy playing along the waterfront and exploring. It was a very nice way to end a very long week.
L: Char is whittling a stick with a rock that he found. He is always finding rocks. R: Mason is showing off the piece of wood that was shaped like a gun. Look at how he looks up at this dad. He adores James and wants to be just like him. So much so, that he has now decided that U2 is better than Pearl Jam. ....Kiss up.
A good fight went on until Mason started going for blood. The problem that comes from your kid thinking you are invincible.
Mason got really into ripping this log apart as he hunted for bugs. At one point I heard him mutter, "I don't wait around for something I want, I WORK for it!" I hope he applies that work ethic and enthusiasm to other aspects of his life and not just bug hunting.
We found this freakish looking fungus thing growing under a log. When you poke it, it oozes out pink gooey stuff. Yuck! We have since figured out that it is called Wolves Milk Slime. Gross. Don't we lead an exciting life?
L: James. I think this was one of the first times that we saw him smile this week since he was so bogged down by test after grueling test. Actually, this was one of the first times that we actually SAW him period! R: Char hunting for treasures.
Hunting for rocks to skip
L: Coobie found a Woolly Bear! R: Mason lugging earth around.
I love this stinker!
How is this slim little man my BABY?!
Coobie's new friend took Lightning McQueen for a spin before we set him free.

I'm going to have to agree with Mason and James on this one, U2 is better than Pearl Jam!
i was just telling bill that if we could just be a little bit more like your family in terms of all your outdoor family trips, i would just love it! unfortunately, we don't live close to any hiking, camping, or lake. :(
