Valerie and Steve get married....and I hurt my knee

Well, it happened. After a long while of not really breaking anything major, I finally fell and broke my knee. Boo. The boys and I were running into Walmart to grab some eye solution and I tripped on little Char. Since I was holding hands with two of my little men, I wasn't able to catch myself and came down hard; ending up in breaking my patella into 4 or so pieces. Boo. Luckily, I had my cell phone in my back pocket and Mason was able to pull it out for me so that I could call an ambulance and then a friend (thank you Lacey!) to track down James. The boys were terrified but the nicest fellow-shoppers gathered around and offered their coats and support while I lay on the ground in the parking lot and waited for help to arrive.

I have worried and dreaded this day for a long time. The day when I would break again and not be able to take care of my little men. Thankfully, it came when my boys are in an easier phase of life and all sorts of kind friends and strangers have stepped up to help us survive it. And how great that the place that we just moved into already had a ramp built up to our front door! I'll have surgery next week and then the mending will start. In the mean time, I have plenty of time to sit on my hiney and update this blog!

To start off, I'll post the beautiful pictures that Aria took of Valerie and Steve's wedding in California at the end of December. Congratulations, Valerie and Steve!

I'm so sorry that you broke your leg, but I'm glad you got taken care of. I also wanted to say that you look beautiful in the wedding pictures.

Boo on broken bones! No, let me amend that: blessings on your broken bones! I guess that puts off your otherwise totally scheduled visit to Portland! (Actually, we're driving cross country next summer - I'll get in touch with you about the possibility of a stop in Kansas.) Thanks for the pictures, I've been waiting to see all I missed.
