I had more surgery

A view of the inside of me! I sure am a looker!

Who knew that a little patella like mine could give me so much sass! When I had surgery on my knee ,back in the beginning of February, they used four screws and a bunch of wire to get all of the six pieces bone back together again. Thankfully, all of the hardware did the trick and my bone healed just as we had hoped. They were afraid for a while that I might have to do more surgery to get my mobility back (a ton of scar tissue took up residency in my knee area that made it difficult and painful to bend) but even that mostly resolved! However, for some odd reason my body started rejecting something that was left inside my knee area and would get infected, fill up with puss, and then eventually drain every so many months. Gross! Towards the end I had a constant mountainous whitehead on my knee that made me look incredibly fancy. It was so alarming and disgusting that the boys were afraid to get anywhere near it and called it my "Monster eyeball." I felt like a winner.
It got bigger but I grew sick of documenting my nastiness. Just be grateful I didn't post the draining pictures!

Since something was obviously up, they did another surgery to take all of the screws and wire out of my knee. Since we had no idea what to expect for my recovery, my mom was kind enough to fly out and save us all over again. My surgery was on October 16th and it went really well! They found out that my body wasn't rejecting the screws or the wire, but the sutures that they put in my quadriceps muscle that were torn when I originally shattered. Who knew?!
The screws were way bigger than I had envisioned!

As you can see, I was tickled pink to get them out:
Me, trying to eat a saltine cracker so I could be discharged.

Just joking, I really am. I cannot WAIT to move on with my life and focus on something else besides my kneecap!
If I look a little drugged up, it because I 100% was! Usually I get really sick from surgery and all of the narcotics that follow, but this time they figured something out and I was able to sleep for four days straight without wanting to die. It was heaven!
