Oktoberfest!

My mom, teaching the boys a good old fashioned drinking song!

When I went in for surgery mid October, my mom was nice enough to come out and help our family by cooking and cleaning and babysitting while I mended. However, this was not enough for her! On top of all of that, she also treated us to a fun Oktoberfest to boot! So while James was at school, and while I vegged on the couch, she and the boys prepared a German feast to take to the lake for a fun Fall bonfire! We were all thrilled for the distraction! My mom has always been so full of life and I am so grateful for how she made my childhood magical! It is fun to see that she is no different as a grandma! We ate bratwurst mit brotchen (bratwurst on rolls), rotkohl (red cabbage salad), and German potato salad for dinner with tasty apfelkucken (apple cake) for dessert! To top it off, she even brought us real steins to drink our apple cider in style!   We were in hog heaven and are now set for future Oktoberfest fun! Thanks, Mom!

 My main man!

My mom had the boys make German flag place settings to make our dining more festive....who cares if the colors were in the wrong order?!

Everything tastes better from a stein!

Our German feast!

Our little mustard lover even approved of the spicier German version of his favorite condiment

We love Tuttle Creek in all of it's seasons!
