Flashback Friday: Playing Teenagers

When we Vance kids were young we played all kinds of odd games to keep us occupied. Like so many other girls, one of my personal favorites was playing house. I was usually the mom and my imaginary husband was Michael J. Fox (and I would call him by his full name. As in, "Michael J. Fox, dinner is ready") or MacGyver (who I was sure lived on the nearby CLU hill). They were both dreamy and made for wonderful husbands.

One day when Aria was 5 or 6 and I was 9 or 10, we pretended to be teenagers instead. I can't even imagine what this game entailed besides putting on makeup and using the word "like" a whole bunch. At one point the mail came and we found a flyer for some teen science camp and whisked it away for our play.

I pointed out one of the guys in the pamphlet and said in a sophisticated voice, "This one is my boyfriend. I have a crush on him."
Aria responded by pointing out another guy and innocently said, "This one is my boyfriend. I have a crotch on him."

Oops! :) I guess we didn't make the coolest teenagers. I never did. However, my taste in men has always been impeccable!

Malinda, you are way too funny. Although, I must disagree with your childhood crush. My personal favorite was always Johnnie Depp. Especially when he was on 21 Jumpstreet, which is quite possibly one of the best shows on TV ever!!

MacGyver has always been my hero. I was on a date once and we were coming up with random questions to get to know each other better, and he asked me who I would pick to be stranded on a deserted island with. My # choice? MacGyver, without question.
