Mason's beloved primary teacher gave him some birthday chalk. Mason couldn't get over his luck and decided to scribble away on the back porch instead of eating his birthday breakfast of waffles. Who can eat when life is so exciting?
Before too much time passes, it must be noted that our beloved Mason turned the ripe old age of six. SIX! How can our little blonde boy be so old already? Actually, I don't know if I am more surprised that he is six or that he isn't 20 since he is such an old soul. Good ol' Mason!
Mason started the party the night before by splitting his eyebrow open with the help of his brother, Charlie. We let them watch Empire Strikes Back earlier that day and apparently they needed to "practice Star Wars" with a couple of sharp sticks. However, as little fun as the stitches were (and the blasted injection that numbed the eyebrow) the rest of the trip to the emergency room was right up his alley (thanks to all the kind staff who doted on him for most of the night). To top it off, he got a happy meal to celebrate his bravery when it was all done and he decided that the treat made it all worth it.
Our bruiser. You don't want to mess with a jedi like him! ...Or Charlie for that matter.
We were going to throw a party for his friends this year (in addition to our family party), but the last week of August seems to be one the of the busiest weeks of the year and I just couldn't juggle it without turning into a banshee. Luckily Mason was understanding and we were able to have a stress-free happy day together while we honored our favorite six-year-old.
Mason asked for his favorite meal of Parmesan chicken strips and Caesar salad and red soda.
Then out came the presents! Mason was nearly foaming at the mouth he was so excited. Thankfully, this year didn't disappoint and he was in hog heaven for the rest of the night! So much so, that we had to tear him away from his toys to bash his pinata. And then after that, he was still so taken with them that we all totally forgot the cake! Luckily, we realized our folly before Mason hit the hay (but not his brothers) and had him out to blow out the candles with just Mom and Dad.
Coobie picked out a monster truck for Mason and couldn't even wait for it to be all the way unwrapped before he had to claim it as his own.
Legos were the big hit of the year.
Charlie was so excited for Mason to open his treasure box that he had to wow the crowd with this cool trick while Mason was unwrapping it. Charpee was also so pleased about this present that he accidentally let the secret out a time or two throughout the week leading up to the big night. It is hard to be sneaky when you are three
L:The raccoon pinata. Mason was nice enough to say, "It's okay mom! This was the first time you ever made a raccoon" when it was obviously not living up to any of our expectations. R: Mason and his cake.

I love his self portrait! What an awesome kid!
I can't believe he's six! Your boys are oh so handsome. Your little raccoon is so cute! I'm doing a woodland theme for my baby boy's nursury...love those little woodland animals so much. Happy Birthday Mason!
oh my gosh, his self portrait cracked me up! you have to save that forever. his poor eyebrow. :( he is such a champ, and really is an old soul. We wish we could've celebrated his big day with him.
And the comment about the pinata! He's sweet even when he's being brutally honest. Tell him to take a look at my crafting attempts. I thought it looked adorable!
